IceSight-WIS

Weather Information System

IDI's IceSight-WIS combines standard weather features such wind speed, temperature and moisture with cutting edge image recognition. This enables IceSight-WIS to sense ice, snow, water, precipitation and type, and visibility. This information along with video can then be streamed directly onto the web.

The IceSight-WIS system works on the principal of spectral absorption bands in the near infrared region that allows distinguishing between different states of water. The system is currently in pre-production and deployed at DOT Remote Weather Information Systems (RWIS) sites in the Northeast.
