IDI Technology - Materials
Advanced materials are being used more and more in automotive and aircraft
manufacturing. Composite materials, specialty metals, and hybrid systems
are enabling more advances in vehicle performance and energy efficiency,
especially in racing vehicles such as bicycles, sailboats and motor racing
(NASCAR). Manufacturing of household materials and appliances is becoming
more sophisticated with plastics and integrated electronics. IDI has developed
innovative shape memory alloy and composite material systems that will
make these new hybrid materials higher performing, reliable, and easy
to inspect. Our expertise in shape memory alloys has developed unique
two way SME devices for applications to seals, gaskets, o-rings and anti
contamination devices (rotor blade ice removal systems). Our composite
sensors enable us to know when composite layers have not cured properly,
or have become de-bonded or delaminated.
IDI seeks to work with interested parties to develop these or related
product areas and is available to provide engineering services, license
technology, or in some cases provide complete sale or technology transfer.
The following abstracts describe a summary of currently available IDI
technologies for advanced material applications.
